Photoshop Tips

Here is another color correction tip. The picture on the left I use the levels two method I have written with the cat picture below. The second picture I used that plus variations. I clicked on more yellow once and got the result below. I don't always use variations, just when I think the color doesn't look right. I think I took the picture in the shade which made it look cooler then I wanted it.

Here is three methods to fixing the color of a photo. I know there's a better way to show you how, but this is the only way I know how. The original picture is below.

Auto Color

Go to Image, Adjustments then Auto color. I also used auto contrast on this picture.

 Levels

Go to Image, Adjustments then Levels.

A box will pop up. Then at the top where it says channels, pick the red channel.

Now what I do is move the black slider inward. It kind of depends on the picture of how far you want to move it. I moved it at the spot where the Histogram starts to go up the same for the white slider.

I did this for the green and blue channel too.

If you want you can move the middle slider if you think it needs more adjustments.

 Levels two

Go to Image, Adjustments, Levels.

Go to Options on the bottom right

Click on the black box next to where it says shadow. Then change the color to R12 G12 B12. This will make the shadow not completely black, this way you can still see detail in the shadow areas. Click ok

Now for the white R245 G245 B245. Click ok when your done.

Hold the black slider and hold down the ALT key at the same time. Stop when you first see black on the picture, and move the slider back where it was.

Then click on the black eye dropper and click the spot where you first saw black. Do the same for the other slider, using the white eye dropper.

Then click ok. And go to Image adjustments and Hue/Saturation. On the saturation, I used 12. You don't need a lot of saturation just a little. And click ok.

When you first open photoshop,  double click anywhere on the grey area and the open dialoge box will open up.

The grey backgound area in photoshop is 18% grey, you can also pick it with the color picker.

There are at least two ways to do one thing on Photoshop.
